Russ Lee is is a musician, a singer, a songwriter and a minister . . . and he makes an impact on my life. Started years ago yet continues today. Our son Tim traveled with TRUTH for two years after college and Russ was the lead singer with the Christian music group. I lived in Singapore and Russ called and asked if I would pray with him as he considered doing a world tour as a “25 years of ministry celebration”. Plans were made and he and his family came and we have stories to tell about his concerts in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. That will need to wait for another time, but for now I need to share how his life continues to impact mine. This must be the same for countless thousands of others all over the globe who have been influenced by his music ministry. Yes, he is a singer but I recall him saying in Indonesia, “some say I am a singer who preaches, but really I am a preacher who sings.” Russ preformed and recorded a song that I listened to again yesterday as I was working around our house. Yes, music is always on at our place. The song is a piercing commentary of life today in the USA. Here are the lyrics of the song. Study them and ponder how easy it is to let your guard down and how society gets it wrong time and again, 'calling it a spiritual Godly pursuit'. Lyrics for Living Life Upside Down John has a new way of looking at life He's tired of his job, his kids and his wife Says the secret to his success Was in leaving and finding himself Now he's someone to somebody else You say we've risen to a new age of truth And you're calling it a spiritual Godly pursuit But I say, but I say What if we've fallen into the bottom of a well Thinking we've risen into the top of a mountain What if we're knocking at the gates of hell Thinking that we're heaven bound And what if we spend our lives thinking of ourselves When we should have been thinking of each other What if we reach up and touch the ground To find we're living life, upside down We've got a program for saving the earth While unborn children are denied the right to birth One baby’s blessed, another cursed Have we made this world better or worse Now the life of a tree comes first? You say we've reason to a new age of light You're telling me what used to be wrong is now right But I say, I say What if we've fallen to the bottom of a well Thinking we've risen into the top of a mountain What if we're knocking at the gates of hell Thinking that we're heaven bound And what if we spend our lives thinking of ourselves When we should have been thinking of each other What if we reach up and touch the ground To find we're living life, upside down To find we're living life, upside down. We need to walk humbly before the LORD making sure we do not fall for the deceptions around us. Apostle John said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” And Jesus said, “I have come that they have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 ESV Each day make sure you are not living life upside down.
