FEBRUARY 2011 TREE of LIFE Health Post
will be the hub for the medical outreach to compliment the village Bible listening groups around Ghana. The mobile medical clinics are just that, mobile. All of the equipment and supplies for the clinics will be stored in this facility. The medical personnel who staff the clinics help meet the physical needs in the villages where Theovision hosts Bible listening groups weekly. |
Bible Studies. We visited a Bible listening group in Daniel, a very remote village where a Bible listening group met. Lead by local missionary Isaiah Amadi, they listened then discussed Matthew chapter 14. It was a festive study unlike in America. There was singing and dancing and personal testimonies.
Assin Fosu’s only radio station “Eye Life” was dedicated on Feb 15th 2010. We were there that day for the celebration and and again this year, one year later. The Theovision Radio Network station 88.1 FM is making a huge impact in the region helping to coordinate community involvement in many social programs to improve health and life in the region.
Christian Life Mission Church in Nmai Dzorn a suburb of Accra, Ghana is a sister church with LifePoint Church in Banning, California where we attend when we are home. Again this year we will connect for a live update this Sunday from Ghana using a SKYPE connection via the internet.

More about Sharon’s work. Yes, she works with finances, but it is a bit different than you might think. Each country has different currencies. Our staff travel to these countries and exchange US dollars to get the local currency. The expense reporting gets a bit challenging. Inflation has an impact as well. For example three weeks ago the rate in Ghana was 1.4 Cedi’s for each US Dollar. Now it is 1.5, a significant devaluation of the local currency. Help me out here, is that over six percent? The result is that prices constantly increase. Inflation in Ghana is over 13 percent per year.
When we arrived, Sharon was able to assist Michelle in serving a team from the USA. They were from a group of Christian Union Churches in the mid-west. They were able to see first hand the many opportunities in Ghana with HCJB Global serving as, “the Voice and Hands of Jesus”. The Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) team along with our local partners, share the voice via radio, Bible listening clubs in villages, hospitals and prisons and their hands in physical needs to these people. Sharon’s great joy is supporting Michelle in the SSA region.

We work together via Skype weekly, but it is sure great working side by side in the regional office, each with our computers humming away. Balancing the books is demanding because the exchange rate changes often. We spend many hours in the traffic of Accra, as Michelle went to the Lawyers several times to obtain visa and passport updates. I am amazed at Michelle’s driving skills...she is in control and all other vehicles seem to know it!
